Pork Chops in Orange Sauce

This recipe came from an article on 'Christmas Traditions' that was in the local paper. It was the family's favorite traditional meal and being a crock pot dish, you can put it on and go do other things during the Holiday season ..... or any other time you have a hankering for pork chops.

(Makes 4 servings)

Ingredients:
  • 4 thick center-cut pork chops
  • pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1 Tablespoon orange marmalade
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated orange peel
  • 1 orange, sliced

Directions:
  1. Season chops with pepper.
  2. Add butter to a large frying pan and brown the chops well. Transfer the chops to a slow cooker, reserving any liquid in the pan.
  3. Pour orange juice and ketchup in the pan with the reserved juice.
  4. Stir in marmalade and orange peel.
  5. Boil one minute.
  6. Pour mixture over the chops in the slow cooker.
  7. Cover and cook the chops on low (200 degrees) for 6-8 hours.
  8. To serve, place the chops on a warm platter.
  9. Slash orange slices to the center & twist.
  10. Arrange one slice on each chop.
  11. Spoon extra sauce over the chops.
